Hello: I am a grandmother who has been on the path for quite a while (since I was young). I have lots of tools in my toolbox that I use, AND I have incredible fear around a being I am very attached to. It is my beloved grandson, who is 18 and struggling with what I view as a spiritual emergency or emergence. He is in quite a pickle and I had been very attached to him and felt a lot of his pain - I had some work done detaching, and feel somewhat of a relief, yet I still worry and think about him, constantly.

I pray a lot and call on Archangels Michael, Gabriel, Uriel, and Raphael to heal he and myself and my entire family (we are all in crisis around his crisis) - the situation is drawing us together but it is very stressful for all of us.

I feel like my fear is blocking my own progression - I can't do my work - and I also think it is not helping the situation, yet I cannot seem to detach enough or trust in God or the angels or his guides enough to let go.

I had been told that my guides would be communicating with me... but so far, only through inspiration... I have had spiritual work done by many sources and I am a Reiki Master and Feng Shui Practitioner, and still this problem persists . . .

In moving towards the ascension, he is the only one I fear separating from . . .I pray that he will rise to a higher vibration and I know he is on his own path, I just cannot accept or have peace with him being in struggle.

As I write that, I am afraid what you are going to say . . .how can I trust that everything is unfolding by Divine plan and that he is or will be okay. I am terrified. Thank you for any insight. V.

Dear One,

You are on a path of self discovery and your grandson needs to be on his own path of self discovery His trials and difficulties at this time are part of the hardship he must endure in order to make progress with his own development. This you understand on a conceptual level, but are not able to accept on an emotional level.

The source of attachment lies in your heart's commitment to your grandson who, in another lifetime, was a son who was lost to you, and the fear for his survival and sense of guilt that you are carrying from the past are influencing your present way of relating to him so that you are excessively fearful for his safety and excessively guilty about detaching, even a little, from responsibility for his life. These things need to be let go of, beloved one, so that he can be free and you can be free to grow within this lifetime.

Karmic ties of this kind are not uncommon, and when deep wounds of the heart have been present, it sometimes happens that present real life concerns are overshadowed by the need for healing of dilemmas of the past, and thus the correct perspective is not easily arrived at.

Your grandson, who was your son, is not going to be lost to you. This is your fear. Nor is he going to be lost to himself. The perspective you are holding belongs to the past, beloved one, and your connection with your own Divine source needs to allow you to let him go so that he can connect with the Divine source within himself. Your emotional attachments and fear for his safety are also inhibiting him, inwardly, from feeling safe himself.

Blessed are you for holding such a great love which is toward both the son of the past and the grandson of the present. Your heart must decide now whether you can rise to the occasion of doing what is best for both you and your grandson. Blessings - Julie Redstone
